Suryakant Tripathi ‘Nirala’

Tripathi was born in Midnapore, Bengal (originally from Gadhakola, Unnao, Uttar Pradesh) on 21 February 1896. He took part in literary circles such as the Kavi Sammelan.[citation needed] Although a Bengali student, Nirala had a keen interest in Sanskrit from the very beginning.

Nirala ‘s life was one long series of misfortunes and tragedies, barring brief periods of time. His father, Pandit Ramsahaya Tripathi, was a servant of government, and a tyrannical person. His mother died early in his youth. Nirala had been educated at Mahishadal, Purba Medinipur in the Bengali medium.
